They will cover 195 miles on their bikes round Northampton

On Friday 10th July, our Academy Education Lead and Assistant Education Manager, Pete Stephenson, and Northampton Town FC’s much loved Kit Manager, Adam Moreton, announced they are set to take on a challenge later this month to raise money for Northamptonshire Health Charity, the Pools Budget Booster and the NTFC Academy and Education Departments. They have set an ambitious target of £10,000 pounds which will be split 50%/25%/25% between the 3 causes.

The boys intend to cover 195 miles on bikes in a 10 day period between the 20th and 30th July, cycling around Northampton and the surrounding areas. 195 miles is the distance from the PTS Academy Stadium to Victoria Park, the home of Pete’s beloved Hartlepool United. Adam will be donning NTFC attire on each bike ride whilst Pete will be sporting a different Hartlepool United shirt on each cycle.

On announcing the challenge, Pete said ‘I have been on several walks over the lock down period with Ad’s and it is something that we have discussed a few times. In the end, we just thought let’s go for it and try to make some money for causes that mean a lot to us’. The 3 chosen causes are all very close to both Pete and Adam’s hearts as Pete went on to explain. ‘The full story behind the causes we hope to raise as much money for is on the Just Giving page. The Crisis Team at Campbell House really helped me and I wanted to do something to help repay their support they provided me. The same has gone for both NTFC, in particular the Academy and Education Departments, and Hartlepool United has always been a massive part of my life but in the last 12 months, has taken on even more significance. With the financial challenges now faced in all walks of life, I really wanted to do something to try and help. It will be great to have Adam with me doing it as well. It is well known how much of a great lad he is and he really wants to be on board and help me with the challenge. He’s done lots of fitness work over the lockdown period so I think he is much better prepared than me! We are both really looking forward to it though’.

Morts is still on cloud 9 following the fantastic playoff victory against Exeter. His dancing skills from the dressing room went viral following the victory, with a video shared by CEO James Whiting getting over 140,000 views! Adam said ‘I feel good about doing the challenge. I think it will go good but we are going to be knackered afterwards!  It will be good to do it for the different causes though and I hope that people will be able to donate to us’. Who knows, if they reach their £10,000 target, maybe we will see another of Adam’s famous dances!!

There will be coverage over the 10 days on both Twitter and Instagram (@petestephenson2) where the challenge was announced, as well as a daily blog after each ride. If you would like to donate and support Pete and Adam with their challenge, there is a Just Giving page set up, which includes the story behind the challenge. Visit  and give anything you can to help the boys get closer to their target!

Good luck boys!!
